Punicic acid is a polyunsaturated fatty acid. Your name is derived from the pomegranate ( Punica granatum ), since it occurs in pomegranate seed oil. However, they can also be found in a few other vegetable oils and is the stereoisomer elaeostearic.

The punicic is a conjugated linolenic acid, abbreviated CLnA ( conjugated linolenic acid). So It contains three conjugated double bonds. Chemically it resembles the conjugated linoleic acids ( conjugated linoleic acid CLA = ), but which have only two conjugated double bonds.
