The Aeropuerto Internacional de Punta Cana ( IATA: PUJ, ICAO: MDPC ) is an international commercial airport in Punta Cana in the east of the Dominican Republic. With more than 3 million passengers in 2006 it is the largest and most important airport in the country and one of the most important in the Caribbean region.
Terminal building
The airport has three terminals. Terminal 1 and 2 are used for handling of international arrivals and departures, Terminal 3 is used exclusively for regional flights. The buildings are constructed in a traditional and typical Dominican style with palm roofs made of real Dominican palms.
Airlines and destinations
From the German-speaking area is Punta Cana - sometimes only seasonally - served by Air Berlin from Dusseldorf, Munich and Berlin, Condor from Frankfurt am Main and Vienna, Austrian from Vienna and from Edelweiss Air from Zurich.
In addition to regional flights such as to Aruba or Curacao Punta Cana is connected, given its importance as a tourist destination with numerous international destinations, especially in North and South America and Europe, including Buenos Aires, Atlanta and London.
