Punta del Diablo is a situated in the department of Rocha beach resort in southeastern Uruguay.

It is located 298 km from the capital, Montevideo, on the Atlantic coast. A few kilometers north-east is the Brazilian- Uruguayan border at the town of Chuy. The original fishing village whose 389 inhabitants ( as of 2004) are predominantly engaged as fishermen and artisans, is one of the most important tourist destinations on the coast of Uruguay. It represents the basis of its originality and its little modern and sophisticated appearance the complete counterpart to send about 200 km from the Punta del Este Punta del Diablo dar. you can probably call it a so-called dropouts village. Nevertheless, it exerts a strong attraction to tourists from Argentina, Brazil and Europe and is a popular holiday destination with surfers, among others.

In the waters off Punta del Diablo also living sea turtles, whose existence is endangered.

Population

In 2011, Punta del Diablo had 823 inhabitants, of which 448 male and 375 female.
