Punta Gallinas, the northernmost point of the Guajira Peninsula in Colombia and the northernmost point of the South American mainland. However, it is not the northernmost point of the Colombian territory, which is located in the island province of San Andres and Providencia.

The Cape belongs administratively to the Departamento de La Guajira. It is in a very arid region far larger places; the nearest town is the Colombian Uribia about 100 km south-west from Punta Gallinas.
