Floridakärpfling ( Jordanella floridae )

The Cyprinodontidae are a family of Zahnkärpflinge ( Cyprinodontiformes ). Initially the family comprised all egg-laying tooth carp. After the reorganization of the name is correct only for a small portion of these fish.

Dissemination

The fish live in the rivers and ponds, brackish water and coastal sea in the U.S., Central America, the Caribbean islands, in parts of northern South America, North Africa and along the Mediterranean coast of Turkey.

Features

You 3 to 23,5 cm long. The beginning of the dorsal fin base is before the anal fin. The dorsal fin is supported 10-18 fin rays, the anal fin of 8 to 13 located at the top excesses of the maxilla are extended medially and meet almost in the middle. The remote from the center of the body portion of the maxilla is expanded. The fertilization occurs externally.

Subfamily Cubanichthinae

In the subfamily Cubanichthinae the dorsal fin has two rudimentary and nine fin rays, the pectoral fins have 18 fin rays. The fins of the males are larger. A parietal bone is present. The only genus is Cubanichthys each with a species endemic to Cuba and Jamaica Art

Subfamily Cyprinodontinae

The subfamily Cyprinodontinae occurs in North, Central and South America, as well as in the Mediterranean region. Your second Pharyngobranchiale ( part of the gill skeleton ) is high relative to the third. The Meckel's cartilage is extended backwards, the parietal bone is missing.
