Strichelracke ( coracias naevia ) in the Etosha National Park, Namibia

The Strichelracke ( coracias naevia ) is a species of bird in the order of the coraciiformes ( Coraciformes ), which is located in sub-Saharan Africa to Namibia and the Transvaal.

Compared with other Racken the colors of their plumage are more muted and their reputation is pretty rough. Your preferred habitat is dry thorn bush savannah, where she spends a long time to sit on the tops of thorn bushes or poles and look for prey; this includes insects, spiders, scorpions and small lizards on the ground. During the Balzfluges she rocks back and forth about its longitudinal axis, whereby they continually emits a hoarse cries.

The Strichelracke seems to be an opportunistic breeder (possibly their breeding behavior is linked to rainfall), because their breeding seasons vary from place to place. It nests in natural cavities in trees or relates old woodpecker holes, white eggs are laid in the usual 3. The chicks are fed by both parents.
