Push start

Pushing is called the starting of a vehicle with an internal combustion engine by setting in motion of the vehicle by muscle power. In special cases, such as off road, military or sporting events, and the pushing through a second vehicle is in use. The annealing or the primary in- rotation - offset of the motor is done by engaging in gear and the ignition is switched on, the 'momentum ' of the vehicle is pushed, so kinetic energy is transferred from the vehicle to the engine.

Technology

The opposite case occurs when one tries to push a vehicle in 4th gear: the gear ratio is very low, so that there is a very low rotational speed is imposed during coupling and consequently the minimum speed for a successful start is not reached.

Legal situation

The legislature distinguishes between:

  • Pushing (such as towing ) generally serves to enable a vehicle that is not running to another place - as it is always necessary if it is " the middle of traffic remains lying " because the fuel has ended or otherwise is not roadworthy.
