Pustec ( Macedonian Пустец; Albanian Liqenas or Liqenasi ) is a village with 3290 inhabitants ( 2011) at the Lake Prespa in a circle Korca in southeastern Albania. It is the capital of the eponymous Komuna, which includes eight other villages. The population consists mainly of Macedonians, who confess the Orthodox faith.

Geography

Pustec is located southwest of the ( Great) Prespa in a small plateau. Because of the largely marshy lake shore, the village is a little off the waters.

The district begins at 1099 m above sea level. A. perched Zvezda Pass, which is the only access from the Albanian side. It extends along the lake shore on the east side of the Mali i Thate ( 2287 m above sea level. Attractions

Built between 2004 and 2007 Orthodox parish church is located in the center of Pustec. Here until the end of the 1960s had the old church of the village stood, which was destroyed by the Communists and replaced by a purpose-built agricultural cooperative. At the edge of the main town, there is another small Orthodox church. The previous building was from the 1754 and 1865 destroyed by fire.

Politics and Administration

In Pustec bilingualism is respected by the authorities. So many roads and signs were erected with inscriptions in Albanian and Macedonian language. Furthermore, the hospital and the two secondary schools are provided with bilingual signs. In March 2013, the community was officially renamed by the Albanian Parliament and changed the name of the Albanian version Liqenas on Macedonian Pustec.

The municipality Liqenas include a total of nine villages, from south to north ( Macedonian / Albanian) Cerje / Cerja Zrnovsko / Zaroshka, Lesko / Lajthiza, Pustec / Liqenas, Sulin / Diellas, Globočani / Gollomboç, Dolna Gorica / Gorica e Vogël, Gorna Gorica / Gorica e Madhe and Tuminec / Kallamas.

Education

In Pustec is the only high school mazedonischsprachige Albania. The community also has four primary and a secondary school, which also in Macedonian is teaching.

Economy

The people live mainly on small-scale agriculture and border trade. In addition, there are the first signs of tourism: two small hotels with beach in Pustec and individual landlords of private rooms. Unemployment and emigration, as in large parts of the rest of Albania relatively high.
