Pusterwald is a municipality with 488 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013 ) in the district of Mur Valley in Styria. The municipality is located in the judicial district Jews castle.

Geography

Geographical Location

The municipality is located in the Tauern Wölzer the Low Tauern and extends vertically from 951 up to 2363 m above sea. A. ( chief warden ).

Neighboring municipalities, beginning in the north clockwise: Bretstein, Sankt Oswald- Möderbrugg, Oberzeiring, Schoenberg Lachtal, Oberwölz environment Donnersbachwald.

The municipality consists of a single cadastral and village Pusterwald.

History

Pusterwald was first documented in 1318, the valley was already in 1294 first mentioned as Freytal. The present church was built in 1430. Men were, among others, the Counts of Montfort. Between 1589 and 1738 Pusterwald belonged to the rule of the von Herber stone and formed a special office. 1849/50 the municipality Pusterwald was built. 2000 Pusterwald was elected the most beautiful flower village of Styria in 2003 as the most beautiful mountain flower village.

Population

The municipality had 2001 572 inhabitants according to the census. 92.7 % of the population possess Austrian citizenship. For the Roman Catholic Church to 92.1 % of the population profess the Protestant Church 3.1%, 1.9% are without religious confession.

Economy and infrastructure

According to Census of 2001, there are 19 workplaces with 44 employees in the community as well as 161 commuters and 16 commuters. There are 59 agricultural and forestry enterprises ( of which 31 in the main acquisition ), which together manage 6,235 ha ( 1999).

The transport infrastructure is via the L528 Pusterwaldstraße.

The council consists of nine members and is since the municipal elections 2010 mandatary of the following parties together:

The ÖVP provides the mayor with Julius Koini.

Coat of arms

The coat of arms of the municipality was awarded by the Styrian Government on 1 May 1974. The description reads: " from silver to green split shield lowers the top three next to each other green pines, below abutting silver chevrons. "
