Pustet

The Pustet Friedrich GmbH & Co. KG is a medium-sized company, which still exists next to the bookstore "Books Pustet " from the graphical big business and Frederick Pustet the publisher Friedrich Pustet. The common corporate headquarters is located in Regensburg.

Formation

The company's beginnings go back to the founder Friedrich Pustet ( 1798-1882 ). Pustet moved in 1826 from Passau to Regensburg where he started with the construction of a bookstore. He moved soon also numerous books themselves and also took over the printing of these works. 1833 Pustet acquired a house in Regensburg Gesandtenstraße ( there is still the principal business of books Pustet ).

1836 Friedrich founded Pustet a paper mill in Laaber and a paper mill in Alling (now part of the municipality Sinzing ).

Between 1865 and 1898, the company expanded greatly: there offices in Cologne, Vienna, Rome, Cincinnati and New York were founded in Valencia and São Paulo emerged dealerships. These branches were abandoned during the 20th century.

In 1957/58 a new building in the Regensburg area Kumpfmuehl was built, in which since book printing and bindery, publishing and administrative offices.

Bookstore Pustet

The bookstore Pustet is one of the largest Bavarian bookstores. All together are ten branches in Bavaria, three of them in Regensburg and one each in Ansbach, Augsburg, Deggendorf, Freising, Landshut, Passau and Straubing.
