Putnok

Putnok is a town in Borsod -Abaúj -Zemplén.

Geographical Location

Putnok lies in northern Hungary, 40 kilometers from county capital Miskolc.

History

On September 18, 1560 designated Bishop of Agria (Eger), Anthony Verantius writes ( Antal Verancsics ) to Emperor Charles V on the vulnerable situation of Putnok, which was attacked along with the castle Gedew in the former days several times by the Turks, would because of they conquered castle Fylek and thus created land corridor represent a great danger for the whole area, including Agria.
