The Putranjivaceae are a family in the order of Malpighienartigen ( Malpighiales ) within the angiosperms ( Magnoliopsida ).

Dissemination

The types have their areas in the tropics, especially in Africa (including Madagascar) and the Malay Archipelago.

Description

They are evergreen shrubs or trees. The double row on branch arranged foliage leaves are heart-shaped and often asymmetrical at the base, have an undivided leaf blade with veins ending in teeth or thorns and they are gray when dry. The blackish gray leaf veins can be seen particularly clearly in most species. There are Stipules present.

They are dioecious getrenntgeschlechtig ( dioecious ). The flowers are usually along several. In a circle of small flowers only four or five (rare seven) bloom cladding is present. The male flowers contain (two to ) three to twenty ( to many ) stamens.   • Lingelsheimia Pax: With six species; this genus is incorporated with some authors in the Phyllanthaceae family.
  • Putranjiva Wall. With four species that occur in tropical and subtropical Asia.
  • Sibangea Olive. With three species that occur in tropical Africa.
