Putrescine is the trivial name for the polyamine butane-1 ,4 -diamine, a diamine of the n- butane.

Occurrence

Putrescine is a case of meat rot, but also in living organisms arising from ornithine by decarboxylation biogenic amine. Responsible for this decomposition the enzyme ornithine decarboxylase. Putrescine is present in fresh meat, and its amount decreases with the duration of storage for. In the food chemistry of the putrescine content is thus an indication of the freshness of meat.

If anti-fouling Base is part of the ptomaines ( sogn. corpse poison) and thus contributes also to the smell of decay.

Use

1,4- diaminobutane is a starting component for polymerization and for the production of pharmaceuticals and pesticides dar.
