Pyhäjärvi (Satakunta)

The Pyhajarvi is a lake in the Finnish landscapes and Satakunta Varsinais- Suomi.

The Pyhajarvi located in the southwest of Finland, about 80 kilometers north of Turku. The lake lies mainly in the municipality of Säkylä. The northwestern part of the lake belongs to the municipality of Eura, the southern part of the municipality Pöytyä ( former municipality Yläne ). Along the eastern bank of the Kirchdorf lies Säkylä. The Kirchdörfer of Eura and Yläne each lie a few miles north or south of the Pyhajarvi.

That is over 25 kilometers long and up to eight kilometers wide in the north-south direction. Its area is 155.2 square kilometers. The volume is 0.85 cubic kilometers but only low, which is due to the shallow depth of the lake. More than 60 percent of the lake is between four and seven meters deep.

The Pyhajarvi is the largest lake in the otherwise poor lakes of Southwest Finland. The lake has remarkably little islands and bays, but is largely an open basin dar. The Pyhajarvi takes two smaller rivers: to the south the Yläneenjoki, towards the East Pyhäjoki. In the north of the river Eurajoki flows from the 46 meter high lake and drained it to the Gulf of Bothnia.
