Pymatuning State Park (Pennsylvania)

The Pymatuning State Park with 21122 acres of the largest state park in the U.S. state of Pennsylvania. It consists of the pent-up Pymatuning Reservoir with 13716 acres of water and 7406 acres of land with extensive riparian zones at an altitude of 308 m. With 4.5 million visitors a year, the lying in Crawford County Park is the most visited of the state. The on the east side adjacent shore and sea areas in the U.S. state of Ohio belong to the same smaller Pymatuning State Park ( Ohio) and are not included here.

At the lake there are several hiking trails, campgrounds, beaches, marinas, some with boat rentals, and fishing and hunting areas. In the northern part there are two Natural Areas, the Blackjack Swamp Natural Area and Clark Iceland. A waterfowl museum and a fish farm are available as well as the Pymatuning Laboratory of Ecology of the University of Pittsburgh.

The eastern part of the lake crosses a roadway which has evolved to the overflow structure that connects the two Seeteile to a special tourist attraction, their attendance is exceeded in Pennsylvania only by the Liberty Bell. On the pavement there is parking, a restaurant, and a retail outlet for bread that can be fed. At the lower part of the overflow the carp that are fed there by visitors gather in such large numbers head to head, that the ducks could walk around on them ( Where the Ducks Walk on the Fish).
