Pyongan

Pyeongan -do is one of the historical provinces of Korea. She lay in the northwest of the country and had Pyongyang as its capital.

The province was created at the beginning of the Joseon Dynasty and was named by contraction of the names of cities Pyongyang and Anju. Another name for the region is Gwanseo. 1896, the field in today's North Korean provinces Pyeonganbuk -do and Pyeongannam -do was divided.
