Pyotr Stepanov

Pyotr Petrovich Stepanov (Russian Пётр Петрович Степанов; born January 2, 1959 in Sankino, Russian SFSR ) is a Transnistrian politician. He was from 2012 to 2013 Prime Minister of the unrecognized Transnistria.

Life and career

Pjtor Stepanov was born in 1959 in Sankino in the Chuvash ASSR in today's Russia. He is an ethnic Tschuwasche. He completed his engineering studies at the Bauman Moscow State University. Since the 1980s, Stepanov still alive in Transnistria, then part of the Moldavian SSR. He also witnessed the Transnistrian conflict, which ended with the de facto independence of the country.

From 1996 to 2007 he was director of operations " Tiraspoltransgas ". Stepanov was first elected to the Transnistrian Parliament early in 2000. In January 2007, he eventually became Minister of Industry Transnistria.

After the presidential election in 2011 he was appointed on January 18, 2012 by President Yevgeny Shevchuk prime minister. Since we introduced this post until after the 2011 election, Stepanov, first prime minister of his country was thus.

On July 10, 2013 Stepanov resigned from his post. He was succeeded by Tatjana Turanskaja.
