As Pyramidelloidea is called a basal group of snails within the Heterobranchia.

Features

The Pyramidelloidea have an eversible proboscis ( actually typical for Streptoneura ). This is equipped with stiletto pines that allow the animals to suck the body juices of vertebrates or to pierce molluscs in exposed places. For food spectrum includes polychaetes, sponges and sea squirts.

System

After Bouchet and Rocroi (2005 ) belong to the superfamily Pyramidelloidea the two families Pyramidellidae Gray, 1840 and Amathinidae Ponder, 1987.
