Pyrenaria microcarpa

Pyrenaria is a plant genus of the family of Teestrauchgewächse ( Theaceae ).

Description

Pyrenaria are evergreen trees, their leaves are spirally, leathery and toothed. The flower stalks are short. There are two ( rarely more) bracteoles, these are permanent, rarely they are obsolete. The five to six sepals are unequal formed, the five to six ( rarely up to twelve) petals are slightly fused at the base, as well as the stamens, which are also grown at the base of the petals.

The ovary is five-to sechsfächrig (rarely three to ten), with two to three ( rarely up to five) ovules per carpel. The style is simple or branched, or consists of non- adult pen branches. The fruit is a drupe, rarely a capsule, the calyx remains on the fruit set on her occasionally. The seeds are elliptic, the embryo straight, the cotyledons are thin, firmly folded and rotated, a lack endosperm. By means of which animals that seeds are dispersed, is not known.

Dissemination

The genus is restricted to Southeast Asia, it is southward spread from China to the West Male Parisiens, where they can be found in evergreen forests.
