Pythius of Priene

Pytheos, also Pythis, ( * ca 390 BC, . † in the last quarter of the 4th century ) was a Greek architect and sculptor.

Known buildings of the Mausoleum of Halicarnassus were Pytheos and the Temple of Athena in Priene. The entire Hellenistic- ionic temple architecture was influenced by Pytheos ' buildings and was directed in outline and proportions in his image. Pytheos also wrote theoretical writings, including a book on the mausoleum, which were later used by Vitruvius.
