Python Software Foundation

The Python Software Foundation ( PSF) is the organization that is behind the open-source project of the Python language. It is the publishers and copyright holders of the Python Software Foundation License and owns the trademark rights to Python.

Organization

The Python Software Foundation is a non-profit organization under U.S. law, with registered office in the State of Delaware (USA). The organization's members are made up of individuals who have made ​​a significant contribution to Python and companies who sponsor the organization. Sponsor memberships have under other companies like Google, Microsoft, Redhat and Canonical. The Python Software Foundation was founded on 6 March 2001. The President of the organization is the founder of the programming language Python Guido van Rossum. The members meet annually at the conference organized by the Python Software Foundation developer conference PyCon, organized since 2011 as PyCon DE for the German-speaking countries.
