Pyx

A pyx is a small liturgical vessel, are kept in the consecrated hosts in the tabernacle for the administration of the Communion or the priest leads to the administration of the Sick Communion with him. It is often carried out as a precious studded, metallic, interior gilded tin.

In the past, however, the Pyxis times it had the shape of a tower as an artistic replica of the Holy Sepulchre, almost always a cylindrical appearance. She was provided with a tent-like cover and often decorated with reliefs. Also preserved are precious, so-called wafer pigeons, alluding to the shape of the Holy Spirit like a dove.
