Qatar International Ice Hockey League

The Qatar Hockey League (English Qatar International Ice Hockey League, short QIIHL ) is the highest hockey league in Qatar.

History

The Qatari Hockey League was founded in 2003. The championship games will usually find Fridays on the permanently installed Hockey field called Villaggio Ice Rink in the Villagio Shopping Mall in Doha, which has the result prescribed by the International Ice Hockey Federation IIHF size instead. Play alongside domestic players especially Canadians and Europeans in the league. Due to the different experience of the players, the league is divided into two divisions (A and B). In addition to the QIIHL since 2007 finds the so-called Desert Cup in Qatar. In future, a team competing in the league, which consists entirely of players from Qatar to set up this pool of players own national ice hockey team. A relevant request by the QIIHL was provided to the National Olympic Committee of Qatar.

In addition to the Qatar Hockey Hockey League also promotes other winter sports activities in Qatar. They belonged in 2010 to the organizers of the Qatari qualifying tournament for Red Bull Crashed Ice. The competition was won by Bill Chase, a player of the Vipers from the sandy QIIHL.
