Qeqqata
Qeqqata Press Office ( German: Medium municipality ) is a Greenlandic large community with a population of 9,638 (as of 2012). Qeqqata covers an area of 115,500 km ². The seat of the local government is located in Spring Hill.
Location
Qeqqata located in southwest Greenland. In the north the municipality borders on Qaasuitsup Press Office, to the south and east by Kommuneqarfik Sermersooq.
History
Qeqqata Press Office was established with effect January 1, 2009 through merger of the former municipalities Sisimiut and Maniitsoq, two towns in the former county Kitaa. Designed by Rita Bornhuus coat of arms shows two large and six small stars that symbolize the city Sisimiut and Maniitsoq and the smaller settlements (Kangerlussuaq, Sarfannguit, Itilleq, Kangaamiut, Napasoq and Atammik ) the municipality.
