Qi Jiguang

Qi Jiguang (Chinese戚继光/戚继光, Qi Jiguang Pinyin, * 1528, † 1588) was a Chinese military leader, who is famous for his fight against Japanese pirates along the Chinese coast ( victory over the pirates 1563).

During the Ming Dynasty General Qi Jiguang and realized planned to build a gigantic bulwark to protect his nation from the attacks of the Mongols: the Great Wall ( "Wall of China "). This integrated the existing parts in a single building.

In the borough Jiaojiang (椒江) of the city of Taizhou ( Zhejiang), there is a Qi Jiguang Memorial Hall.
