Qianhong Gotsch-He

Qianhong " Hongi " Gotsch ( Qianhong He) ( born September 7, 1968 in Tianjin ) is a German table tennis player. She is European champion.

Career in China

Qianhong He grew up in China. With 8 years she learned the table tennis game. In 1985 and 1986 she became Junior Champion of China in singles. In 1986, she also won the Women's Championship in singles. In 1987 she was in Sofia students world champion. For China, she completed three matches, but fell out with the responsible coaches and was not considered in the national squad. After a two year break from table tennis, she moved to Germany in 1991 where they lived in Offenburg with her ​​then-husband Li Shusen, a former coach of China.

Career in Germany

In 1991, she joined the SV Böblingen, with whom she played in the Bundesliga. In 1996 she married Ingo Gotsch and entered since then under the name Qianhong Gotsch. In April 1998, she received the German citizenship. Since 1999 she is member of the German national team. Their first international match they played on 13 January 1999 in the Europe League game against Russia, where she won both the singles.

In 1999, she won the German and European ranking tournament. The Europe Top 12, she won again in 2000. She was also in 2000 German champion in singles. They celebrated their biggest success in 2000 when she was European champion. At the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney Gotsch was eliminated in the quarterfinals.
