Qiao Guanhua

Qiao Guanhua (Chinese乔冠华/乔冠华; born March 28, 1913 in Yancheng / Jiangsu Province; † 22 September 1983) was a Chinese diplomat and politician. He was from 1974 to 1976 Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China.

Life

After his studies and in 1937 made ​​a doctorate at the University of Tübingen Qiao worked as a journalist and wrote during the Second World War, columnist for the newspaper Xinhua Ribao in Chongqing. After the founding of the People 's Republic of China, he held various positions in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, including from 1963 to 1974 the post of Vice - Minister of Foreign Affairs. In November 1974 he was finally appointed Minister of Foreign Affairs and remained so until 1976.

In the years after 1976 he was a consultant of the "Society of the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries ." He was also the author of several works, including From Munich to Dunkirk.
