Qiqihar (齐齐哈尔 市/齐齐哈尔 市, Qiqiha'er Shì ) is a prefecture-level city in the southwest of Heilongjiang province in northern China. The name is daurisch and means something like Mark or natural pasture.

History

Qiqihar is one of the oldest cities in northeast China, was established in the 17th century AD. She was from 1931 to 1945 an important military base for the Japanese control of Manchuria.

The Ice Festival

Temple

Qiqihar has its own ice hockey team that plays in the Asia League Ice Hockey. The mascot of the team is the snow leopard. In April 2007, Qiqihar hosted the Games of the Division I (Group A) of the Ice Hockey World Championship for Men.
