Qrio

Qrio ( "Quest for Curiosity " ) was a 58 -centimeter and seven kilograms heavier, humanoid robot from Sony. For the first time in 2000 presented under the name of SDR- 3X and replaced in 2002 by the successor SDR- 4X, he was regarded as postgraduate "experiment" of Sony's robot dog Aibo (1999).

QRIO was the first humanoid robot that was able to run, so both feet simultaneously got off the ground. However, he could this compared to people only a very short time (40 ms vs. ~ 1 s). His top speed in the race was 13.72 meters per minute ( 0.8 km / h ).

To QRIOs other talents also included skipping, stair climbing, soccer games, story reading, singing, dancing to and much more. He was seen in the location, language, and faces a limited extent and had a Japanese vocabulary of about 60,000 words, which enabled him to small conversations.

In the course of setting Aibo 2006, the stop on the further development of QRIO was announced by Sony. However, the developed technology for both projects should be included in future, yet unannounced projects from Sony.
