Quadrantanopia

The Quadrantenanopsie is a special form of the visual field. Affected patients suffer from this form of Anopsie usually after a stroke or an accident with craniocerebral trauma.

In this form an upper or lower portion ( generally a quarter = quadrant) of the field of vision in one or both eyes is missing. Patients seen for example not a quarter of an image section. A Quadrantenanopsie can occur with or without central scotoma.

It may be associated with a lesion of the optic radiation. If the Meyer'sche loop is damaged, the visual field defect is above; when the parietal pathway is damaged, the loss is below.
