Quadriga Audio-Archiving Solution

The Quadriga audio archive solution is a software for digitizing analog audio archives.

History

The use of conventional broadcasting sound archives on the basis of individual recordings is labor -consuming and an essential ingredient for securing continuous quality control and cost-intensive. The ongoing digitization of radio technology in the 90s forced the sound archives to digitize their major record holdings.

The problem was solved the " definitive break with the past ", ie the transition from the individual recordings to record the sound file. The Tonfiles be stored on mass storage devices (mainly tape cartridges ) in robots archives, which allows both automatic inventory security and a more intensive use of the sound archive is used by its integration into the digital networked radio house. To achieve a high grossing efficiency with improved quality assurance, had a new type of product to be developed, the " quality-controlled audio archive recording station " Quadriga.

Quadriga in 1998 in close cooperation with the Institute of Radio Technology (IRT ) and the German public broadcasters developed. Quadriga is a registered trademark of the IRT and is exclusively marketed by the Bremen company Cube -Tec International GmbH. The acronym derived from " QUality from Analogue to Digital rigorously Analysed " refers to the practice of quality control at this digitization process.

Quadriga is used worldwide since 1998 with broadcasters, state archives and music companies.

Operation

When dubbing the sound carrier Quadriga automatically detects irregularities and noted this independently in a quality report. Irregularities can be, for example clicks or short audio dropouts. Even during the dubbing, the Quadriga operator check these events audibly and visually.

Parallel to the recorded audio material Quadriga provides additional detailed information (metadata) about the origin of recorded music, the recording signal chain and the overall technical quality of the recording.

Quadriga can be connected to any existing media asset management system, and easily adapts to the existing network and database infrastructure.

Together with the products Dobbin and cube workflow forms Quadriga a fully integrated solution for the transfer (migration) of classical tinge based sound archives in file-based media archives. This can provide their users with the rehearsed with Quadriga audio holdings and accompanying materials online or via network.
