The concept of the album

In the notes to the remastered Odds & Sods CD is to read that Pete Townshend Quadrophenia evolved from an idea that was developed around the concept of an autobiography of the band and its members. ( John 's Theme ) Love Reign O'er Me and ( Pete 's Theme ).

The story takes place in London in the early 60s and describes the life of the lonely, young mods Jimmy and his problems in the transition to adulthood.

From the first-person perspective tells Jimmy about his self-doubt, his frustrations and unanswered questions that characterize his life. The audience gets an insight into Jimmy's life: his problems with his parents, his dreary job and his unsuccessful efforts to achieve social recognition. Confirmation Jimmy hopes that his affiliation with the Mod culture. In this community, he believes, to find a meaning for his life.
