QuakeSat

QuakeSat (of Engl: quake - quake ) is a small satellite to test experimental methods of earthquake prediction. The Earth observation satellite will be operated by the company Quake Finder in Palo Alto, California, in the construction of several student project groups were involved. As an amateur radio payload QuakeSat carries a radio beacon.

To predict will slow fluctuations of the electric field (ELF ), the earthquake precede measured. The predictive success of this procedure is not without controversy. On a similar concept based the French satellite Demeter. QuakeSat conforms to the specification for a three - dice - CubeSat, the main instrument is a magnetometer on a 60 -centimeter-long telescopic boom.

The satellite was spent together with other CubeSats on 30 June 2003 by a Russian Rockot into space.
