Quam singulari

Origin

In 1905, the International Eucharistic Congress was held in Rome, Pope Pius X gave this year also the decree " Sacra Tridentina Synod " of the reception of frequent and daily Communion out. This he did at the urging of the participants and the demands from other previous congresses. Under the motto " Renew All in Christ ", he then approved in 1910, this decree the Sacrament Congregation.

Content Description

The decree defines and assigns the Eucharistic communion for children. It sets the age limit at about seven years, in which should be thought about a confession and Holy Communion. It is noted that the children this should not dominate the perfect knowledge of Christian doctrine, but rather a gradual introduction to the Catechism could take place. A special responsibility imposed on the parents and teachers, but also the pastors and confessors. Also describes the gradual familiarization and preparation for the sacraments. The implementation of the First Communion will be announced annually and held again.
