Quarnstedt
Quarnstedt is a municipality in the district of Steinburg, in Schleswig- Holstein.
Geography and transport
Quarnstedt located about 5 km east of Kellinghusenstraße. The Mühlenbek flows through the community. To the south runs the federal highway 206 from Itzehoe to Bad Bramstedt, west of the railway line Hamburg- Altona- Kiel.
History
1248 the village was first mentioned. The name Quarnstedt derives from the Low German term " quern " or " quarn ", which refers to the hand-mill. Thus, the place-name probably means Mühleplatz.
Policy
After the local elections of 2008, the voters Community WGQ eight and a single candidate had a seat in the municipal council. In May 2011, the municipal council had resigned following a dispute about a proposed gas compressor station. Since the election in October 2011, the voters Community WGQ has all nine seats.
