Quaschwitz

Quaschwitz is a municipality in the Thuringian Saale- Orla-Kreis, in the administrative community Oppurg.

Geography

Quaschwitz lies on a high plateau of the East Thuringian Slate Mountains at 455 meters above sea level, between the towns of Knauer ( south ), Gertewitz ( west ), Oppurg ( north ) and Weira ( east ). The area around the plateau is hilly and wooded. Gullies leading into the Orlasenke. The landscape is endowed with many small ponds. The village consists of 19 houses.

History

The site was registered in 1350 first documented.

An economic history stage was decided in March 1974 to plan a pig breeding and fattening farm in Quaschwitz and environment. The initial commissioning stage was initiated quickly, and the production then began with problems. Hardly completed and achieved initial production results, the plant fell after the turn of very legitimate animal protection laws and environmental concerns to the victim.

Geography and transport

The municipality is located on a plateau above the Orlasenke in the northern foothills of the Thuringian Slate Mountains. Five kilometers west of the municipality is the town of Pössneck, the largest town in the Saale- Orla-Kreis. Federal highway 281 runs north of the community. The Federal Highway 9 runs to the east of the community and can be reached via the Triptis connection.

Attractions

Worth seeing in the site are 18 restored farmhouses and a small village church.
