Quebracho is a city in western Uruguay.
Geography
It is located in the 11th sector of the department of Paysandú few kilometers north of Lorenzo Geyres and northwest of Queguayar in Cuchilla San Jose. To the north rises near quebracho with the Arroyo del Sauce a left-side tributary of the few kilometers north extending Arroyo Guaviyú. In approximately 12 kilometers north distance the Termas de Guaviyú are also located.
History
On October 15, 1963 quebracho received by the law Nr.13.167 the status of "Villa ".
Description
Quebracho as a service center, which also prevails in addition to the cereal and citrus growing a diversified extensive livestock farming and forestry.

Traffic
By quebracho the railway line Salto - Paso de los Toros, which here has its kilometer point 526. Four kilometers east also runs the Ruta 3
Tourism
27 km away from quebracho located with the ruins of the 1869 built former salt meat factory Saladero Guaviyú a relic from the heyday Quebrachos. Also, the former Estancia Guaviyú that houses today's Escuela Agraria, located in the local environment.

The population of quebracho was 2,813 at the last census (2004 ).
