Quedlinburg (district)

The district of Quedlinburg was a district in the west of Saxony- Anhalt, who came up on 1 July 2007 in the newly created district of Harz.

Geography

The district of Quedlinburg had in the southern district area share of the resin. In the northwest, the Bode flowed through the county territory.

Administrative history

Kingdom of Prussia

After the reorganization of the circle outline in the Prussian state after the Congress of Vienna Circle Aschersleben in Magdeburg Region of the Prussian province of Saxony was established on October 1, 1816. The District Office of the circle was in Quedlinburg.

German Empire

Since 1 July 1867, county Aschersleben the North German Confederation and from January 1, 1871 belonged to the German Empire. 1901, the town of Aschersleben was cycle-free and the remaining district Aschersleben was renamed in district Quedlinburg. 1911 was also Quedlinburg county-level city. On September 30, 1929 local government reform took place in the district of Quedlinburg according to the development in the rest of Prussia place, in which dissolved all previously independent estate districts and neighboring rural towns have been allocated. On January 1, In 1939 the district of Quedlinburg according to the now rich uniform regulation the designation district. After dissolution of the Province of Saxony on July 1, 1944, the district was part of the new province of Magdeburg. In spring 1945 the circle area was occupied by the American forces.

GDR

As part of the newly founded state of Saxony -Anhalt, the district was expanded in 1950 to the county Ballenstedt as well as parts of the Mansfeld mountainous landscape and the district of Blankenburg ( Harz) and the district-free city Quedlinburg in 1911 by an East German district reform.

As part of the administrative reform of 1952, the territory of the district to the new circles Quedlinburg, Aschersleben and Staßfurt was divided on 25 July 1952. The circles Quedlinburg and Aschersleben were assigned to the district hall and the county Staßfurt the district of Magdeburg.

Federal Republic of

In 1990, the district of Quedlinburg was again renamed part of the new federal state of Saxony- Anhalt and in the district of Quedlinburg. In the first district reform in Saxony -Anhalt in 1994 was by municipalities from the district of Aschersleben ( Hausneidorf, Hedersleben, Heteborn, Wedderstedt and Radisleben ) and enlarged to its communities and Allrode Timmenrode reduced ( in the district of Wernigerode ).

The second Administrative Reform on July 1, 2007, the district Quedlinburg became part of the new district of Harz.

The district administrators after the political changes of 1989 were:

  • Wolfgang Hoßbach (SPD ) in 1990 resigned after 16 days
  • Detlef Mahlo (CDU ) from 1990 to 1994 until the end of the term
  • Dieter Ten pounds (SPD ) from 1994 to 2000 to reach the retirement age
  • Tungsten Kullik (SPD ) from 2000 to 2007 until the end of his term

Coat of arms

The approval by the Home Office Saxony -Anhalt on 24 September 1990.

Blazon: " divided by silver and red by a bent- nine black over gold split point, forwards a four -ended, bent to the left red antlers, rear two diagonally crossed silver Kredenzmesser with golden handles. "

The coat of arms recalls the coats of arms images to the historical territories, which extended over the county. Thus, the Antler on the coat of arms of the county Regenstein can be traced back to Kredenzmesser to the kingdom of Quedlinburg, while the multiple black and gold graduation symbolizes the county Ballenstedt.

The coat of arms was designed by the Quedlinburg Udo Glathe ( Heraldic Society "Black Lion" Leipzig). Since the black and gold division mistakenly started with gold at Glathe, the Kommunalheraldiker Jörg Mantzsch the crest underwent on behalf of the county council following a redesign.

Economy

Together with the districts of Halberstadt and Wernigerode founded the county the waste disposal association Nordharz. In this the problem of waste was dissolved at low fees.

The economy in the district of Quedlinburg was determined by a few but large industries - cottage in Thale, die casting and piston work Harzgerode, Mertik Quedlinburg, Quedlinburg Philo Pharm, Gummiwerk Ballenstedt.
