Queen Mamohato of Lesotho

' Mamohato Bereng Seeiso ( * 1941, † 2003; born Tabitha ' Masentle Lerotholi Mojela ) was three times regent of Lesotho.

Life

Tabitha ' Masentle Lerotholi Mojela married in 1962 two years before winning King Moshoeshoe II and took the name ' at Mamohato Bereng Seeiso. Moshoeshoe II in 1966 Head of State of the newly independent Lesotho. On 10 February 1970 he was overthrown by Prime Minister Leabua Jonathan. Following Jonathan also served as president. ' Mamohato was first issued on June 5, 1970 for her instead of her husband was crowned king, but only seven year old son David Mohato Bereng Seeiso Regent of Lesotho. The Office of the regent, she held until the next throne takeover by Moshoeshoe II on 20 November 1970.

After King Moshoeshoe II was overthrown again on 6 November 1990, she took over the regency again before her son Letsie III. on November 12, 1990 became king. After another reign of her husband Moshoeshoe II was, after his death in a road accident on 15 January 1996 for the third time regent and then handed the ruler dignity again to her son Letsie. In the following years she remained until her death as Queen Mother ( Sesotho: mofumahali ) de facto deputy head of state and at the same time close advisor of her son.

Besides today's King Letsie III. (* 1963) had the son Seeiso Bereng Seeiso (born 1966 ) and daughter Constance Christina ' Maseeiso ( 1969-1994 ).
