Queidersbach

Queidersbach is a municipality in the district of Kaiserslautern, in Rhineland- Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality of Kaiserslautern -Süd, which has its administrative headquarters in Kaiserslautern. Queidersbach is a nationally recognized tourist.

Geography

The community is located 10 km south-west of Kaiserslautern in a natural meadow valley in the biosphere reserve Palatinate Forest Nature Park. Nearly two thirds of a 1500 hectare district is covered with forest.

By Queidersbach flows of the same stream, which is popularly referred to as Steinalb. The neighboring municipalities are Kaiserslautern, spell, Weselberg and Linden.

To Queidersbach includes the residential places forest house stamp Berg, Schweinstal and Zuckerhof.

History

The village was first mentioned 976, when Emperor Otto II his vassal Biso country gave the Quideresbach. In addition to the Sickingern from Landstuhl Queidersbach listed later a French rule and the membership of Bavaria.

Name

The place name is derived from the Old German forename Quidhari. The name Quidhari consists of the two components " quid " (= " talk ") and " hari " (today's " army " ) together. For the millennium celebrations in 1976, " Museum Sickinger Höhe Queidersbach " was born. The collection is (built 1836) in the old school house accommodated. Shown is the history of the place. Numerous exhibits bear witness to the life and work of the ancestors. Changing special exhibitions complement the permanent offer.
