History

The first written record comes from the year 1197 as " Quenethorpe ", the oldest archaeological finds from the Neolithic period (ca. 3500-1800 BC ). The name comes either from the word " Querne '(name for a half- mechanical mill ) or from the Westphalian " Quene " for a young cow. A very different interpretation sees the origin in the " Quenna " title for a tall woman.

1971 Quendorf joined with the city Schüttorf and the communities Drievorden ( since 1974 the municipality Engden ) Engden, Neerlage ( since 1974 the municipality Isterberg ), Without, Samern, Suddendorf ( since 2011 the city Schüttorf ) and Wengsel (since 1974 on community Isterberg ) for Samtgemeinde Schüttorf together.

As part of the construction of the A 30 is a small lake ( Lake Quendorfer ), which is used as a recreation center was built. The Vecht, a small river, which flows into the Zwarte Water, split the village and offers anglers and canoeists opportunity to pursue their hobby.

A small primary school accepts children from Quendorf and the neighboring community Isterberg. In the north of the municipality lies the medieval Klusen place.
