QUIC

Quick UDP Internet Connections ( QUIC ) is an experimental network protocol. It is developed by Google with the aim of Internet traffic to accelerate a whole.

Background and characteristics

As an improvement of HTTP protocol SPDY Google has already developed, but whose benefits can not be fully exploited due to limitations of the underlying Transmission Control Protocol. These restrictions should pick the UDP -based QUIC.

QUIC requires that the data sent is encrypted like using TLS.

Support

The first browser that supports client-side QUIC, Google Chrome, version 29 sample implementations for client and server can be found in Chromium repository.
