Quiet Lake (Yukon)

The Quiet Lake ( English for " calm sea " ) is a lake in Yukon Territory.

The Quiet Lake is located 110 km east of Whitehorse between the Pelly Mountains in the east and the Big Salmon Range in the west. The lake extends in a north-south direction and has a length of 28 km. Its maximum width is about 3 km. The maximum water depth of the lake is 160 m. Situated at an altitude of 802 m lake is drained by the Big Salmon River on its northern end. The Canol Road ( Yukon Highway 6 ) runs along the eastern shore of the lake. The Nisutlin River flows at a distance of about 6 km east over the lake in a southerly direction on this.

At Quiet Lake there are two state campgrounds. The lake is down used as a starting point for canoe trips to the Big Salmon River to Carmacks.

The Quiet Lake was established in 1887, named by John McCormack, a prospector.
