Quinquennat
As Quinquennat ( from Latin quinque = " five" and annus = " year " ) is referred to in various contexts for a period of five years, for example:
- The five-year term of office of the French president. In 2000, the term was shortened by a constitutional amendment on the basis of a popular vote of seven to five years.
- In the German Empire a compromise on parliamentary approval of military budgets, which had to be given every five years since 1890 ( see, for background Septennat ( Deutsches Kaiserreich ) ).
