Quinton Howden

Quinton Howden ( born January 21, 1992 Winnipeg, Manitoba ) is a Canadian professional ice hockey player on the position of the center. He is since 2011 when the Florida Panthers of the National Hockey League under contract and playing in parallel for their farm team, the San Antonio Rampage in the American Hockey League.

Career

Quinton Howden began his career in the local hockey leagues in the Canadian province of Manitoba, before he was selected first overall in the 2007 WHL Bantam Draft by the Moose Jaw Warriors of the Western Hockey League. Having already completed for the Warriors at the end of the 2007/08 season five games, Howden succeeded in the following season as a rookie immediately jump to the regulars. In 62 games, he was able to achieve 30 points and was voted the Rookie of the Year of the Moose Jaw Warriors. In the 2009/10 season, the striker was able to increase significantly and reached 65 scorer points at the end of the season for the first time the mark of a point per game. At the same time he was invited to the CHL Top Prospects Game. NHL Entry Draft 2010 Howden was finally selected in the first round at 25 out of the Florida Panthers.

Before the start of season 2010/11 Howden was named assistant captain of the Warriors. Although he played five games less in the regular season, he was able to increase his goal tally of 28 significantly to 40 goals and was the top scorer of his team. In addition, he was elected to the Second All-Star team in the Eastern Conference at the end of the season. In the following season he helped the Warriors with 30 goals for re- entry into the playoffs, where they were able to penetrate to the Conference Finals.

In April 2011, Quinton Howden signed an initial three-year contract with the Florida Panthers. Finally to season 2012/13 he moved to the farm team of the Panthers, the San Antonio Rampage in the American Hockey League. There, he scored in his rookie season in 57 missions total of 30 points scorer. After the start of the season in the NHL was delayed by several months to January, 2013, Howden was first appointed end of the month in the cadre of Panthers. There he received his first cap in a 1:7 defeat against the Philadelphia Flyers.

Internationally

At international level, the Canadians received its first use in the U18 Junior World Cup 2010, when the team was eliminated in the first round. Howden scoring four goals in six games and also had two assists.

For the U20 World Youth Championship 2011, the striker was re-appointed to the Team Canada and won the team silver medal. The following year he was appointed assistant captain of the junior national team and helped his team at the U20 World Youth Championship in 2012 with six points scorer for winning the bronze medal.
