Quirimbas Islands

The Quirimbas Archipelago consists of about 30 small coral islands in the Indian Ocean, extending along the coast of Cabo Delgado Province in northern Mozambique. Eponym for the archipelago is the island Quirimba, the largest and most populous, however, is the neighboring island of Ibo. The 11 southernmost islands are part of the Quirimbas National Park.

Because of their importance to both the natural and the cultural heritage of the archipelago on 20 August 2008 was included in the Tentative List of UNESCO in the Mixed category Cultural and Natural Heritage.
