Quiver Tree Forest

The quiver tree forest ( Afrikaans: Kokerboom Forest) is a 1955 declared a national monument area northeast of Keetmanshoop in southern Namibia, are to an estimated 250 quiver trees (Aloe dichotoma). The quiver tree is mainly found in the semi-deserts of Namibia and the northwestern part of South Africa and grows otherwise rather isolated; Plant and forest are protected.

The collection of probably 200-300 years old and about 5 feet high aloes of " Quiver Tree Forest " is located on the grounds of the farm " Gariganus " at the fork in the road of the M29 and C17. Adjacent are named after the Quiver Tree Forest Campsite " Quivertree Forest Camp " and the bizarre rock landscape " Giant's Playground ," a textbook example of block weathering and desert varnish.

Another quiver tree forest, but not the national monument, is significantly larger, with more than 5,000 plants, however, is only a few kilometers away on " Farm Garas ".
