Quœux-Haut-Maînil
Quœux Skin MAINIL is a commune of 250 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the Pas -de- Calais, in the Nord -Pas -de -Calais. It belongs to the district of Arras, in the canton of Auxi -le- Château and the community association L' Auxilois.
Geography
The northern French community Quœux Skin MAINIL located in the southwest of the historic landscape Ternois, about 30 kilometers northeast of Abbeville and 50 kilometers west of Arras. The municipality covers a portion of the elongated plateau between the river valleys of authie and Canche that are aligned almost parallel to the northwest to the English Channel. Characteristic of Quœux Skin MAINIL and surroundings are wide arable and pasture land, interrupted by protecting against wind long rows of trees, and the absence of large forest areas. The soils are rich in lime, so that rainfall seeps quickly. At the edge of the plateau have some dry valleys cut into the relief ( the rear of the Six Pierres, Fond de Vieil- Hesdin, Fond des Carrière ).
The municipality consists of the settlements Quœux and skin MAINIL and the hamlet of Montorgueil.
Neighboring communities of Quœux Skin MAINIL are Galametz and Fillièvres in the northeast, Haravesnes the southeast, Vaulx in the south, Gennes- Ivergny the southwest, Fontaine- l'Etalon in the west and Vacqueriette - Erquières in the northwest.
History
The municipality was formed in 1972 with the merger of Quœux and skin MAINIL. 1346 Battle of Crécy took place in the vicinity of the church today.

Economy and infrastructure
Quœux Skin MAINIL has retained its village character. The agriculture, particularly sheep farming plays an important role. In the town are still 15 farms prime- resident.
Road connections are made in the nearby communities Haravesnes, Fillièvres, Fontaine- l'Etalon, Vacqueriette - Erquières and in the cantonal capital Auxi -le- Château. In the eleven kilometers away town of Hesdin, the highways Saint -Omer- Abbeville and Arras Berck cross.
