Qusar District

Qusar is a rayon in Azerbaijan. The capital of the district is the city Qusar.

Geography

The district has an area of ​​1542 km ². The area is located in the Greater Caucasus and is bordered to the northwest by Dagestan. Larger parts of the district is forested. In Rayon Shahdag the mountain is at a height of 4243 meters and the river Qusar.

Population

In Rayon 2009 87.500 people lived in 84 settlements. The majority of the population belongs to the people of the Lezgins.

Economy

The economy is dominated by agriculture. There are bred mainly sheep and cultivated cereals, vegetables and potatoes. There are also canned and carpet factories.

Culture and Tourism

In addition to the Lesgischen National Museum and National Theater in the city Qusar is located in the district of the Mausoleum of Sheik Juneyd in the village Khazra. At the village of Laza are the waterfalls of Gusarchai. In Laza and near Qusar are larger recreational facilities.

Since 2009, the " Tourism Complex Shadag " is built, the opening is scheduled for late 2011.
