R Hydrae

R Hydrae (R Hya ) is a variable star Mira type in the eastern part of the constellation Hydra.

The brightness of R Hydrae varies with a period which is currently 389 days, between 3.21 and 11.00 m. The period of R Hydrae is changing slowly. It was at the beginning of the 18th century 500 days since taking off slowly.

During the peak brightness of the star with the naked eye is good to see, while you need a telescope of at least 5 cm lens aperture for observation in the minimum.

R Hydrae is about 2000 light years away and is part of spectral type M7 IIIe on.
